ABOUT DR. SWORDS
Dr. Swords is focused on surgical treatment of complex foot and ankle orthopedic conditions and orthopedic trauma including fractures and complications. He has a special interest in traumatic injuries and treatment of post traumatic conditions in the foot and ankle. Dr. Swords is active in clinical research, participating in a variety of clinical trials. Dr. Swords lectures and teaches surgeons both nationally and internationally on different aspects of treatment for both traumatic and reconstructive procedures. Dr. Swords is a leader in the trauma program for University of Michigan Health-Sparrow serving as director of Orthopedic Trauma since 2012. He is the Chair, Department of Orthopedic Surgery, University of Michigan Health-Sparrow (2018-present). Dr. Swords was honored in Becker’s ASC Review which highlighted 38 foot and ankle surgeons to know in 2020. The list was developed through nominations and internal research, and showcases surgeons and specialists that have led accomplished careers and hold leadership positions at some of the top institutions across the U.S.
